The future of journalism education

Big title . . . big subject, and one that Sunderland student Josh Halliday will be addressing journalism lecturers from around the UK on this summer. Josh will give a paper on the student perspective, together with lecturer Julie Bradford, at the annual conference of the Association of Journalism Education at City University, London, on June 19.

As far as we’re aware, it’s the first time an undergraduate has given a paper to the AJE. It comes at a pivotal time for journalism education, when the newspaper industry is in turmoil and there is no widespread agreement on the type of skills a journalism graduate should have.

Josh, editor of InJournalism magazine, also hosts forums for journalism students and educators at CollegeJourn every Sunday at 8pm. Join in the debate.

  1. Haha! Can I give a plug to my blog too please :)

Recent highlights include an interview with Philip Young on the our new MA in Public relations and Kevin Overbury on journalism education.

Please do feel free to bend my ear on journalism education if you see me around Uni!
