Don’t forget to apply to the 2009 European Young Journalist Award…only two weeks to go. The prize is the title of ‘2009 European Young Journalist’ in the UK, followed up by a cultural trip with all expenses paid to Berlin in August/September 2009. Deadline is 31 May.
You need to be between 17 and 35, and a citizen or resident of the 27 Member States of the EU or the 8 Candidate Countries and Potential Candidates of the EU. (so most of you qualify – blimey, up to 35, even I qualify…). How to get involved? Read on…
Articles should have been written between 2007 and 2009 and has or will be published on any other media (print, online, audiovisual – so including www.injournalism.co.uk) about anything related to Europe and the EU. The organisers are particularly encouraging submissions on the following topics:
- 20 years since the removal of the Iron Curtain: has integration with the central and eastern European countries changed the face of Europe?
- Five years after: the impact of the accession to the EU of the ten member states that joined in 2004
- The quest for EU membership: why is the European perspective crucial for the western Balkans and Turkey?
- Accession into the EU of new member states: good for the EU or good for the acceding country?
- What does belonging to the EU mean for you/ your country?
The article can be a maximum of *2, 000 words*. There will be ONE winner awarded for each participating country.
